Mildred Foye Davis was born on 9/12/1919 in Magazine, Arkansas, to A.B. and Elsie Coleman White. She passed from this life February 1, 2017 at Denison, TX.
She was the Valedictorian of Magazine High School in 1936. She graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1940. Foye Davis taught home making for 37 years at Horatio High School. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Horatio, a member of the cemetery committee and was a long term member of the Democratic National Committee in Sevier County.
Her parents, A.B. and Elsa White, her sister Faye Hanks, and brother Hobart White preceded her in death. Her husband, George Wayne Davis II died after 50 years of marriage.
She is survived by her only son George Wayne Davis III, his wife Joan Willems Davis, and 6 grandchildren, George Benjamin Davis and wife Rebecca Rollins, Ryan Willems Davis and wife Claudia Novoa de Davis, Rebecca Foye Lewis and husband Eric Lewis, Philip Coleman Davis and wife Kristen Davis, Austin Mercer Davis, John Arthur Rotert and wife Joannie Rotert and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by cousins Bill Hanks, Briscoe Hanks, and Martha Cooper.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine officiating. Burial will follow in Horatio Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, February 3rd at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
