Mr. Blackwood directed my life by challenging my love of mathematics and teaching. Because of him I taught 37 years in AR math classrooms. I owe him so much. God be with your family and friends. Tom and I will see you in heaven, Mr. B.

I knew Bill as a friend and mentor. He was patient with folks because he believed that patience brought rewards to the person he was helping. He mentored me and others sometimes without them knowing due to his honesty and integrity.

I am so sorry for your loss! Mr. Blackwood was very influential to not only the community and school, but to our family. Mr Blackwood always took the time to say hello plus he knew your name and names of your family! He was so good to the teachers at DeQueen School and without a doubt always had the best interest of the school in his heart. Just don't wear orange to a teachers' meeting!!

I am so sorry for your loss. Heaven is a little brighter today because of that big, easy smile. I have so many memories of Mr. Blackwood. They all bring a smile to my face even the ones where I was a brat and at the time I thought he was the most awful man on the planet :-) . Years later, of course, I realized he was not the meanest man alive but I was the prettiest kid alive. He will truly be missed Heaven definitely got a lot brighter.
I am praying for the peace beyond understanding for each of you. His sweet spirit will most definitely be missed

I had the pleasure of working for Mr. B and DeQueen Schools for seven years and I can honestly say it was the best time of my career in education. Mr. B was a one of a kind man and school administrator and they certainly don't make them like him anymore. He impacted me in so many ways both professionally and personally as he did countless others. I use lessons he taught me today in my job as an administrator. I am thankful for the impact he had on all of us who worked for or attended DeQueen schools as we were all blessed to know him.

My sincerest sympathy to Bryan, Julie, and family. My thoughts and prayers go out to you!

Mr. Blackwood was a kind man who richly blessed my family. It was thanks to him that I got my first job at the school and made enough money to pay him (money he loaned my dad) back to buy my first car. Much love to you both, Bryan and Julie.

To the family of Billy Bob as he was known to me back in the 1960s, I express my sincere condolences. I worked with him during Christmas holidays at the Budget Shoe Store in Nashville where his father was the manager and my mother Edith Weems also worked. I thought he was a wonderful young man back then, and I've heard nothing but wonderful reports about his leadership abilities in the DeQueen ISD and in the city. I pray that you will receive peace and comfort in knowing that he was a wonderful man and a man who professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. I pray for your comfort during this sad tie of loss.

Mr. Blackwood was a long term superintendent of DeQueen Public Schools including LOCKESBURG SCHOOL where he hired me to teach. He ran one of the best school systems in Arkansas that paid one of the highest salary schedules in the state in addition to certified employees receiving a $2000 bonus at Christmas more than once. This was all done on one of the lowest millage rates in the state. I cannot express in words the respect I had for him.
