Mrs. Bessie Crowell Mitchell, age 100, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 09, 2017, in De Queen, Arkansas.

She was born October 19, 1917, in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. Mrs. Mitchell was a farmer, a homemaker, and a member of the State Line Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Obie Mitchell; her parents, Silas and Clarice Farrer Crowell; two children, Randy Mitchell and Sharon Owens; three sisters; and five brothers.

She is survived by four daughters, Glenda Tinkes of Ben Lomond, Arkansas, Arlene Jones of De Queen, Kirma Kohler of Ukiah, California, and Hellen Milam of De Queen; one son, James Earl Mitchell of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the Stateline Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo, Arkansas. Burial will follow in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday the 11th at the funeral home.

Glenda, so sorry for your heartbreak, sweet friend. I know you will miss her so much. You have many memories of caring for her all this time and they will eventually give you great comfort. She had her hundredth birthday with you and she has now gone to her Heavenly reward. Know that my prayers are with you.

Ms. Bessie looks so pretty in her earthly crown. Now she has a Heavenly crown and can see the face of Jesus! God be with her family and friends.
